About CALSU
Center for American Literary Studies in Ukraine (CALSU) was founded in 2005 at Shevchenko Institute of Literature of the NAS of Ukraine with the support of the Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy in Ukraine. CALSU is a professional voluntary association of experts in American literature from all regions of Ukraine; it has its own research agenda coordinated with the status and regulations of academic requirements.
CALSU activity:
managing “informal” School in American Literature;
organizing conferences, symposiums, seminars, discussions;
editing CALSU yearbook American Literary Studies in Ukraine;
educational activity: developing and approbating different curricula in the subject; working out special courses in American literature;
collaborating with publishing houses in translating, editing, commenting academic literature and fiction in English;
delivering academic and popular lectures for various audiences;
supporting CALSU web page, providing information and reference service;
cooperating with similar research Centers in Ukraine as well as abroad;

CALSU has its regional representatives in Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Lviv, Nizhyn, Mykolayiv, Kamyanets-Podilsky, Gorlovka (Donetsk region), Chernovtsy, Khmelnytsky, Ternopil (Carpathian region), Lugansk, Odesa, Uzhgorod, Kharkiv region, the Crimea, Drogobych, Chernigiv, Vinnytsia.
