a comprehensive research of Taras Shevchenko’s literary heritage, in particular:
– his history poems;
– his prose from the perspective of its relations, genetic connections, and typological convergences with the texts of other national literatures;
– the author’s manner and style in Shevchenko’s diary;
as well as research:
– of the history of Shevchenko studies;
– of the memoirs on Taras Shevchenko;
– of the prospectives of scholarly editing the Shevchenko’s works (including the digital editing).

Research work of the department
During the 2014–2018 the staff of the department worked on fundamental research entitled ‘Reception of Shevchenko’s Oeuvre: The Issues of Literary Studies’. This work has resulted in the list of prepared and published editions, including the 5th and 6th volumes of the ‘Shevchenko’s Encyclopedia’ (2015), ‘Shevchenko’s Encyclopedia. Literary Works’ (2016), 4 monographs, 3 collections of works, the 2nd volume of ‘Taras Shevchenko in Critique’ series, as well as 161 papers, 47 popularizing articles.
The work on the new topic, ‘The Issues of Poetics, Scholarly Editing, and History of Shevchenko Studies’ began in 2019 and will run until late 2023.
The team of Shevchenko Studies department published a monograph, 30 papers in the local and international journals, 14 additional materials (popularising articles, reviews, reports, online material) during 2018. They delivered 42 reports and presentations at the conferences, congresses, round-table discussions and seminars held at the universities, scholarly institutions and museums of Bratislava, Kaniv, Kyiv, Canberra, Melbourne, New York, and Olomouc. Besides, they gave a series of lectures on the related themes.
